Our Goals

Working with animals has always been my dream. There isn’t a time in my life that I wasn’t infatuated with nature and animals. I had a soft spot for animals that most people found scary or undesirable. Soon, reptiles and amphibians became my main focus.

I decided to attend Georgia Southern University to pursue the goal of working with animals. I earned a BS in Biology and was blessed to get the opportunity to do undergraduate research on our state reptile, the Gopher Tortoise. After college I worked at a small pet shop that specialized in exotic animals, and was hooked!

As many of you know, life doesn’t always follow the path we think it will. I had a difficult time supporting my family after collage and made the decision to but my dream on hold. I never stopped keeping reptiles or volunteering with animal organizations. Now, after many years of waiting, I have decided to make my goals a reality.

The goal of this business is to educate people about the animals I love. To achieve this, I am taking a two prong approach. Offering captive bred animals for sale gives people the option to bring a piece of nature into their lives on an intimate level. Having a personal connection to a family pet influences people to care about animals and understand them on a different level. People care about things they have a personal stake in. Having a red-foot tortoise as a pet can bring awareness of the many dangers facing tortoises and turtles in the wild.

My second approach is to offer animal experiences. Having positive experiences with animals in a fun and educational environment is crucial. Not every one is prepared to bring an animal into their lives full time. Many reptiles also take a serious commitment, as they can have difficult and extreme care requirements. These parties will give people the chance to have a hands on experience with animals that they may not even know existed.

In summery, Callaway Critters LLC will be offering quality captive bred animals we are passionate about, as well as guidance on their care. We will also be offering Safari parties, where your family and friends will have the chance to have a hands on interaction with a variety of reptiles, amphibians, insects, and arachnids. We will be adding more animals to these services as we go.

I am taking a leap of faith with this venture, and I hope you will join us!
